Double the Care
Methodist Healthcare offers Labor, Delivery and Recovery rooms designed to provide critical technology in a home-like setting, close to home. With two Women’s Pavilions, at Methodist Hospital and Metropolitan Methodist Hospital, Methodist offers more than 40 Labor and Delivery Rooms (LDR) and more than 60 neonatal intensive care beds. Methodist Healthcare, through Metropolitan Methodist Hospital and Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center, delivers more babies in San Antonio than any other area hospital system.
Methodist Hospital—Women’s Pavilion
The Women’s Pavilion at Methodist Hospital offers 26 newly renovated LDR rooms—the largest area dedicated to the birthing experience in San Antonio.
- Its Newborn Intensive Care Unit is the city’s largest with 46 beds and a newborn specialist available 24-hours a day
- Its Level III nursery is the only private facility of its kind in the South Texas Medical Center
- A specially equipped and staffed antepartum unit is ready to help women who may be at risk for premature delivery or have other medical problems
- Premier 10 South special suites as a room option (currently under construction)
- Lactation experts available for in-rooms assistance
The Women’s Pavilion at Methodist Hospital has immediate access to the Methodist Children’s Hospital of South Texas—the only hospital in San Antonio designed and built especially for children.

Metropolitan Methodist Hospital—Women’s Pavilion
The Women’s Pavilion at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital offers 16 brand new LDR suites and 48 postpartum beds and a 16-bed neonatal intensive care unit, dedicated to the birthing experience.
- A Newborn Intensive Care Unit with 16 beds and a newborn specialist available 24-hours a day
- With the opening of the new pavilion, the number of newborn babies who can be cared for each month at the hospital will increase from 250 to 450.
- Easy access for maternity patients with a dedicated drive-up entrance and separate admitting/registration
